Smeaton's Tower as seen from the Royal Citadel, Plymouth


This Lighthouse was built by Smeaton in 1759 using interlocking stones that were transported to the Eddystone Rocks, from Millbay Harbour. This lighthouse stood for over 120 years before being removed because a fault was detected in the rocks it stood on. The structure was dismantled stoen by stone and re-erected on the Hoe.
