Griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus) being ringed and marked before release into the wild. Griffon vultures are scavenger birds with a wingspan of between 230 and 265 centimetres. They are native to mountainous areas of the Mediterranean, Africa and Asia, and feed mainly on the carcasses of large mammals. Photographed in Israel at the Carmel Mountains Hai Bar wildlife sanctuary and breeding centre. These vultures are a breeding nucleus.
