Operative gynecology : . Bw. Fig 187. Cyst 8 by 5 Cm. in Size protruding from the Vagina and covered on its External Surface by Smooth Vaginal Mucosa; Egg-shaped and Densely Adherent to the Struc-tures above the Vaginal walls, 3 mm. in thickness, are of a dark-grayish opaque color, and the cavity contains a semi-fluid, greenish substance. The cvst is lined with a single layer of high cylindrical epithelium, a trueprototype of that found in the cervix. In places there are islets lined with epithelium like that lining thesurface of the cyst; these islets sometimes dip down into the wall of the cyst a centimeter or more, andclosely resemble true glands in their structure. Just beneath the lining epithelium of the cyst cavitythere is a layer of connective tissue, and next to this comes a broad layer of non-striped muscle fibers cutlongitudinally, transversely, and obliquely. A layer of normal stratified squamous epithelium lies overone portion of the outer surface. Case of Dr. C. P. Noble. Path. No. 1775. M
