Dragonfly metamorphosis. Adult dragonflies on plant stems after emerging from the nypmh stage. Their discarded exoskeletons are still attached to the plant stem beneath them. After metamorphosis, the adult rests on a plant stem and pumps blood into its wings and fills its abdomen with air. As the cuticle drys it hardens.
