Children of the Rouen area. The little girls wear the same tall bonnets as their mother and are dressed for some festival. One girl hands an apple to the other. Hand-colored fashion plate illustration by Benoit Pecheux engraved by Gatine from Louis-Marie Lante's "Costumes des femmes du Pays de Caux," 1827/1885. With their tall Alsation lace hats, the women of Caux and Normandy were famous for the elegance and style.
