Sketch-map showing localities in the Mary Knoll Valley as described in Section v (c), PP- 130-131- western flank of the valley, from the old Leominster road at Overton to the Wigmore road near Pitch Coppice. Text-fig. 9 shows the principal exposures in the Sunnyhill area. In the quarry at locality (29) (49737244) the Lower Whitcliffe Beds are of particular interest because of the common occurrence of Dayia navicula ; Proto- chonetes ludloviensis is also fairly common and Camarotoechia nucula abundant. Salopina lunata, Schizocrania striata, Serpulites longissimus, Michelinoceras sp., and Fuchsella amygdalina also occur. These strata are again exposed alongside the track above the quarry. Descending the road to the main Sunnyhill Quarry (locality 30) : (49537255) the standard section for the base of the Leintwardinian stage can be examined (see pp. 141-145 for details). In the small quarry at locality (31) (49437255) the lowest Upper Bringewood Beds occur, being more thinly bedded and less calcareous than the higher strata of this division. A descending sequence.
