The railway from Kattarp to Höganäs was opened in 1885 by SHJ, Skåne - Halland railway. In Höganäs there were then two stations, Höganäs upper and Höganäs lower. After 1919 it became a station instead of Höganäs upper and Höganäs lower. Then the new station house was built two floors in brick. The architect was Folke Zetterwall. A major rebuild took place in 1936, the magazine was combined with the station building. Completed in 1992.
