Hong Kong magnate, Stanley Ho, designed and built the Jumbo Floating Restaurant, which, in the style of an ancient Chinese imperial palace, opened in October 1976 at a cost of HK$ 30 million. Visitor access is via ornamental barge from Aberdeen Promenade or the nearby Shun Wan Pier, opposite the entrance on the front or left side of the view. Since opening in 1976, the 'Jumbo Kingdom' has attracted 30 million visitors. Now underlain by concrete, it is something of a theme park.
