Tomb of the Venerable Bede in the Galilee Chapel at the W end of Durham Cathedral, England, UK. Monk & historian Bede, died in 735 at the monastery of Jarrow from where his relics were stolen around 1022 by Aelfred (Alfred) Westow a monk of Durham who placed them in the tomb of St Cuthbert. In 1370 Bede's relics were translated to The Galilee Chapel, built 1175-89 by Bishop le Puiset, where they remain to this day.
