Thomas Hamilton is the architect who built Victoria Street between 1829 and 1834. For the next forty years improvements were made to both sides of the street and then remained unaltered for the next 100 hundred years. Initially known as West Bow it was renamed in 1837 in honour of Queen Victoria. It remains a mosaic of historical buildings and is a popular destination for visitors to Edinburgh.
