A little further on are dis-covered the ruins of a bridge, behind which another is built betweenlofty rocks, that supply a foundation to the convent of St. high mountains, covered with woods and verdure, which are partedby the river ; the numerous cascades which this forms in its dark andsequestered course, with the various effects of light and shadow, form ahighly beautiful scene ; and amply compensate the trouble of the tra-veller in reaching it.
