A silver-mounted handheld crossbow, Italian or French, circa 1680 Slightly curved iron prod, with a recessed bolt channel on the top. Original knotted hemp bowstring with wooden bridges. Silver fixation clasps, the bolt-clip made of bone. Characteristically curved tiller made of ebonised walnut, the tip and the finial with inlays of turned bone. Silver trigger mechanism with iron axles, the sights in the shape of two sculptural dolphins. The finial is inlaid with a silver plaque geometric décoration.
