This painting, titled "Suspense," is by the English artist Sir Edwin Landseer (1802-1873). It is considered by many to be Landsee's finest work. It shows a dog watching at his wounded master's closed door and illustrates the artist's happy gift of suiting title to subject. Landsseer is said to be the first to study a dog's intelligent face and eyes, and his faithfulness. Landseer is known for pianting animals at their best.
