The plants may eitherbe thinned to give them room to grow, or transplanted to another bed to grow until it istime to plant them in the open ground. For main crop, seed should be sown in the openair as soon as the soil and air are warm enough. They should be covered lightly, ormerely pressed into the earth with a board if the soil is fine and mellow. The seed-bedmust be kept free from weeds, and well watered in dry weather.
