Viking Age. The Helgo Treasure (Island in Ekero Municipallity, Sweden). Irish Crosier Helgo. Irish origin and would have formed part of a bishop's staff. The coiled top of the crozier was made in Ireland around 800 AD. Bronce and decorated with enamel and coloured glass inlays. Buddha statue from India, 6th century. Probably it arrived in Helgo via Swedish merchants. These artefacts could also have arrived on Helgo island either as pillaged goods, during a Viking raid, or exclusive aristocratic gifts. Swedish History Museum. Stockholm. Sweden.
