Breast surgery. Image 1 of 5. Cosmetic surgery markings on a 54-year-old woman's breasts prior to her breast reduction operation (reduction mammoplasty). These markings are used to indicate where incisions will be made and how the breasts will be reconstructed during the surgery. Here, excess breast tissue will be removed, resulting in smaller, more symmetrical breasts, and the nipples will be moved further up the breasts (red circles). The patient had a total of kilograms of breast tissue removed and went from a G cup size (left breast) and an F cup size (right breast) to a DD cup size. See M590/298 for the breasts after surgery.
