An elegant species, growing from 10 to 18 inches high, bearing in spring curious drooping bell-shaped flowers, most of which are very oddly marked, many being checkered and splashed white and purple, cream and maroon, etc., etc., as shown in the illustration on opposite page. A beautiful and distinct sort from California, pro- ducing as many as a dozen brilliant, clear scarlet flowers, spotted with orange in the throat, on stalks 18 lo 24 inches high; excellent for naturalizing. 6 cts. each; 60 cts. per doz.; $ per 100. GLADIOLUS {Ready in November). The early flowering sorts offered below are now largely used for forcing, coming into bloom in May. The flowers are of good size, and borne freely on long stems; 6 bulbs can be planted in a 6-inch pot. They can also be planted outdoors, being hardy with slight protection. The Bride.
