Underground.—On the hard-lead, the east shaft was sunk to adepth of 116 feet, and levels driven at the bottom, east 240 feet,and west about 160 feet to connect with the old workings from thewest shaft. The ore sent to the crusher was principally from thestopes above the west level, only a small portion coming from theeast School House lead, McDonald and Copeland, Forest Hill. MINES REPORT 99 The old Modstock shaft on the school-house lead has latelybeen pumped out and mining operations are about to be shaft is down 170 feet and connection is made undergroundwith the old Strathcona workings, on the same lead, making thetotal length of the connected workings on this lead about 1200feet. Surface.—The new shaft-house at the school-house lead is theonlv addition to the plant. Cochran Hill, Sherbrooke, Wine Harbour, Ecum Secum, Harrigan Cove.
