After experimentingfor a number of years without satisfac-tory results the plan first adopted wasabandoned and twelve years ago thepresent system of water supply was in-stalled. The mains extend to a pointabove Little Falls in the Passaic Riverwhere there is no possibility of con-tamination and the water obtained is ofunusual purity. Professor Doremus ofNew York, who a few years ago analyzedthe water at the request of the municipalauthorities of P)ayonne, made a highlyfavorable report upon it and it is no ex-aggeration to say that few cities canboast of
