. Uly (or Ueli) Schad, a weaver from Oberdorf, Basel-Country, Switzerland. Considered one of the 'ringleaders' of the rural population of Basel in the Swiss peasant war of 1653 by the authorities of Basel, he was hanged on July 24, 1653 (July 14, 1653 according to the Julian calendar then still in effect in Basel).
