McKay, and appointed asSupervisor of the Polynesian Depart-ment of the Genealogical Society ofthe Church, and in that capacity Ihave been sent over to New Zealandby the Genealogical Society. The pur-. pose of my coming here is first toassist in setting up the office of theRecorder of the Temple, and secondto establish a Preliminary ClearingHouse at the Temple for Polynesiannames. For the past six months I have beenengaged in the task of checkingthrough the records in the ArchiveDepartment, and removing therefromall the sheets containing Polynesiannames. I have also removed someChinese, Japanese, and Pakeha sheets,as I found them, that I knew pertainedto the Hawaiian Islands, or New Zea-land, or any others of the Islands ofSouth Pacific. It was a tremendousjob as there are thousands of bindersfilled with family group sheets on the shelves of the Archives, and our Poly-nesian families were scattered through-out these many thousands of have removed from these records allthe group sheets I could find of allfamilies for whom the Temple workhas been completed, and also all famil-ies for whom all work except sealingshave been completed.
