The door engine is controlled bya foot pedal at the conductors position in the rear ofthe car and also by a rod running along the side of thecar. When operating in the city under the pay-as-you-entersystem the conductor stands at the door-operating pedaland collects the city fares as the passengers step intothe car. When the limits of the one-fare zone arereached, the conductor collects the interurban faresthrough the car and may open or close the doors fromany point in the car by means of the door rod.
