Blake states that in the Tombstone area graymedium-grained granodiorite occurs which weathers in such a way asto leave large globular masses or bowlders of disintegration con-fusedly piled on the surface. Another outcrop on a large scale ofsimilar granodiorite is found in the Dragoon Mountains. Quartzdiorite is available in inexhaustible quantities in the BradshawMountains. I Geol. Quarries are situated near Phoenix, MaricopaCounty; Globe, Gua County; and Prescott, Yavapai County. The quarries near Phoenix are about 7 miles south of the varieties of granite are produced here, both gneissoid. Thefiner grained of the two is of a gray color and is noticeably porphy-ritic, with white crystals of orthoclase in contrast to the finer-grainedgray mass of the rock. The coarser-grained variety is of lighter colorand with biotite having a linear arrangement. A local light-graygranite, resembling the latter of these two, has been used in the wallsof the first story of the State Capitol at Phoenix. The quarries near Prescott are 1| to 2 miles northwest of the cityon the north side of the Santa Fe, Prescott & Phoenix Railway tracksand about one-fourth
