He participated in mostof the battles of the army thereafter, and was severelywounded at Petersburg, Virginia, in the summer of 1864,under General Grant, from which he is still a sufferer,carrying the ball in his body. He remained in the service until the last gun was firedand the last of the enemy had surrendered.
