Healso served two terms in the Pennsyl-vania Legislature, first in 1875-6 andsecond in 1885-6, having won the ad-miration and respect of all for hissteadfastness of purpose. So wellhad he ingratiated himself into thehearts of his fellow legislators thathe secured an adjournment of theLegislature, just a few days beforeits close, in order that all might cometo Selinsgrove, May 25, 1885, to par-ticipate in the unveiling of the monu-ment erected by the state in memoryof Governor Snyder, in whose honorour county has been named.
