A carved staghorn pipe, Meiningen, Thuringia, circa 1830. Staghorn with silver mountings. Surrounded by finely carved, hunting scenes of riders, stag, and hounds in front of a forest backdrop. A couchant hunting hound on the lid. The stem made of staghorn segments with an amber mouthpiece and an attached silver chain. Height of the pipe bowl 11 cm. It comes with a leather tobacco pouch with top and sides stamped with hunting designs. Height cm. Stylistically, the pipe is to be ascribed to the work of the Meiningen Master Leberecht Schulz and his son. Cf. H,
