Nerve growth factor bound to receptor, molecular model. Nerve growth factor (NGF) complexed with the TrkA receptor. NGF is a neurotrophin that acts on the development and function of nerves. TrkA is also known as neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor type 1. The interaction of both these molecules plays a key role in differentiation of nerve cells. Here, the receptor parts of the complex (pink and yellow) bind either side of the neurotrophin (NGF, green).
