They have two chil-dren living: Elizabeth Jeanette, 8 years old,and Victor Stuart, two years old. A daugh-ter, Dorothy, died in infancy. ATWATER. Isaac, of .MiiiiicaiPdlis. wasone of the first settlers at St. Anthcmy, theeditor of the first paper published in that lit-tle hamlet, one of the foremost lawyers in thestate of Minnesota, an occupant of a seat onthe supreme bench of that state for severalyears, and has been connected with the Hennepiu county bar longer than any man nowliving. His father was Ezra Atwater,a farmer, a native of Connecticut, of Englishextraction, whose ancestors settled in NewHaven about the year 1718. His mother wasEsther Learning, also a native of Connect-icut, of English descent. Up to his sixteenthyear he was employed on the farm and thenentered Cazenovia Seminary, afterwai-dsHomer Academy, where he prejiared forcollege. He entered Yale University in1840, and graduated in the then took up the study of law in thelaw dei)artment of that institution, gradu-ating in 1847, and was admitted to the barthe same jear. He commenced the prac-tice of his profession in New York City, buton account of ill health was compelled toseek a change in climate. In 1850 he camewest and located at St. Anthony,
