Canada geese (Branta canadensis) grazing next to a dried-up reservoir. These large birds, which can reach lengths of 2 metres, are native to North America, where they inhabit wetlands. They have also been introduced successfully to north-western Europe. They have adapted well to life in urban areas and can even be found on ponds and lakes in large cities. They feed almost exclusively on vegetation, mainly grasses and grains.
