Right Southern Whale in Peninsula Valdes (Eubalaena australis), Province of Chubut, Patagonia, Argentina


Hundreds of Southern Right Whales (Eubalaena australis) arrives into the Peninsula Valdes every winter to breed, seeking for sheltered and relatively shallow waters in the Gulf Nuevo and Gulf San Jose. It is frequent to see and hear the whales near the coastline. The huge mammal adults weights between 40 and 50 tons with a lenght between 13 and 15 meters. This whales are protected under international laws and declared by Argentina a National Monument in 1984.
