The Atomic Bomb Memorial Dome in Hirosima Japan Asia


The atomic bomb was detonated on August 6, 1945. The building sustained major damage, its interior was completely burned and all 30 persons who were in the building at that time died. In 1967 the dome was declared a symbol that should remind the people of the world of the terrible disaster. At that time of the A-bomb dome construction work for permanent preservation were carried out. In 1996 UNESCO registered the properties on the World Heritage List.
