Reforming the
These are grave headstones made and used by some Muslim families as of the XIII Century marking a departure from the restrictions of Islam (the area was then under Arab rule). So the practice could be viewed as a form of emancipation. The animals represented are rams and horses, symbols of wealth and perhaps authority as some of the tombstones have etchings of rifles. The tradition continued into the XIX Century.
