Two-barred goatfish (Parupeneus bifasciatus) on a coral reef. This fish inhabits the tropical Indo- Pacific region. It occurs in different forms across its range, with differing numbers and shapes of the dark bars on its flanks after which it is named. It prefers to stay around steep reef walls and seaward drop offs, where it feeds on crustaceans by day and fish by night. It can reach a length of around 35 centimetres. Photographed in Malaysia.
