Orthodontic brace removal. Removal of an orthodontic brace that has been glued to a patient's teeth. Small metal brackets were glued to each tooth and connected by a wire. The wire was tightened to slowly, over weeks and months, correct the alignment of the teeth. Once the correct alignment is achieved, the fixed brace can be removed. It may still be necessary to wear a removable brace to ensure that the teeth remain in their new alignment. The procedure is usually performed on children, though adult teeth can also be realigned.
