Dress of mauve glacé under skirt is trimmed round the bottom with three rows of biais edged with round Spanish body ornamented to of white tulle illusion and mauve head-dress. Fig. 4. Underskirt of white and brown striped bengaline, with a flounce half a yard deep and simply gathered. Low-necked upper dress in light brown up on the left side by a very large bow with rounded ends of the same stuff and trimmed with rouleaux like the dress. Fichu "Directoire"...with little lappets crossed in front and scarcely coming below the belt, which is fastened behind by a large bow'. From "Illustrated London News", 1868.
