Three of our studentshave returned home disabled, one of whom we have welcomedback to Classes. We trust he is the first of many who willyet return and resume their studies—men who will be effectiveboth by College training and the awful experiences of the warfor leadership in that work of religious and social reconstruc-tion which awaits us in Knox College 75 THE VARSITY MAGAZINE SUPPLEMENT The College Classes, thinned to the vanishing point,would soon fill up again were it not that almost no young menare coming in to begin their studies. The lads in the HighSchools, not old enough for Military Service, are going backto take the places of older brothers and of hired men whohave gone to the Front. There is not one Graduate of theUniversity of Toronto in our First Year Theology althoughin normal times there would be from fifteen to twenty. Thegap is being filled, so far as it is being filled, by men of moremature years who are responding to the Churchs call inthis hour of need and in whom the experience of life and service is accepted as an equivalent of a University dearth of students for the Christian ministry hasenabled Knox to open the doors of her Residences to studentsof other Faculties. This has proved a great advantage tomany, now that the Burwash Residence and the Univers
