The largest plane in the world, the Antonov An-225 Mriya, departs from Prestwick International Airport in Ayrshire, Scotland, after a refuelling stop. The aircraft, currently the only one of its kind completed, was initially built to transport the Buran space shuttle, and then served in the Soviet military as a strategic airlifter. It is now operated by Antonov Airlines to transport oversized loads, and today's visit was a scheduled fuel stop after departing Bangor earlier this morning. It then left Prestwick to continue its journey to Chateauroux in France.
