Southport, Merseyside, UK. 1st June, 2017. UK Weather: Emergency vehicles in line, a response to girls stuck in mud on Southport foreshore. The extensive sands of the resort and the long distance to the tidal waters at low water encourage tourists to venture into unsafe areas. Two girls were treated for shock after being rescued by crews from the fire service, ambulance and RNLI. If they had been there long enough their lives would have been in danger - eventually they would have succumbed to the cold sea temperatures, and hypothermia kills. Southport Offshore Rescue were called, along with other emergency services at they were cut off by Pier Channel north of Southport Pier. The teens were eventually rescued and brought back to the sea wall where they were checked by by the RNLI beach lifeguards.
