Marine Corps recruit Agustin Lua with Platoon 3242, Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, participates in the low crawl station during the crucible aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif. The Crucible is recruit training’s 54-hour culminating event that involves food and sleep deprivation and the completion of varied events for recruits to overcome in order to claim the title United States Marine. Lima Company made history by being the first company at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego to integrate female recruits into their training.
