A deduction of 10 per cent, from the theoretical production forclaning, oiling and other stoppages gives good practical :— Pounds in 10 hours = 90 per cent, of 748 = COMBER The combing machine most commonly in use is known as the Heil-man Comber. It is manufactured by several firms, both here and and back views are shown at Figs. 79 and 80, respectively. Fig. 79. 81 shows a section. The laps produced on the ribbon lapper are placed atthe back of the comber. The machine is. usually made so as to receive six 114 COTTON YARN MANUFACTURE laps. These are put side and each receives separate treatment, sothat a comber really consists of six separate heads coupled are each driven from the same source, but each in its action on thecotton is complete in itself. A description will therefore be given of onehead.
