Themonthly averages ranged from about 1° to over 5° belowthe normal. The highest temperatures occurred generallyduring the first ten days. Maximum temperatures of 90°,or above, were recorded at 3 out of the 44 stations, at twostations on the 7th and one station on the 8th. Minimumtemperatures of 32°, or below, occurred at 13 of the 44stations. There were two cool periods during the month. Thefirst, from the 13th to the 17th, caused the first light frostsof the season in all, except the extreme southern, portionsand heavy frosts in the central and western portions. Th
