Outer ear infection


Inflamed ear of a 73 year old white female patient with an outer ear infection (otitis externa). Also known as swimmer's ear, this is an infection of the outer ear canal. It may be caused by bacteria or fungi, or even skin conditions such as eczema. Treatment is of the underlying cause and keeping the ear dry.
