If troubledwith the disease, soak the seed potatoes, justbefore cutting, for 15 minutes in a solution of1 teaspoonful formaldehyde in 1 quart ofwater (see page 28). EARLY-BLIGHT.—In the Northern States,this trouble usually comes in early July. dark, roundish spots on the leaves,which have ridges or rings (fig. 30). It isworse in moist, warm weather. Treatment.—Spray plants with Bordeauxmixture (see page 27), beginning when thedisease is first seen. Repeat the sprayingevery 10 to 14 days in dry weather and every 7days in moist weather to the end of the season. LATE-BLIGHT.— In the Northern States,this disease is the cause of great losses inyears when cool, moist weather occurs duringAugust. It causes dark, irregular dead spots onthe leaves (fig. 31) and stems, and spreads veryfast. In favorab
