Lège-Cap Ferret (33) on 2010/03/23: 22 tons of oysters reintroduced to reseed the oyster grounds in the Arcachon Bay

150 tons of oysters, from Brittany and Normandy, should be reintroduced into five sites of the Arcachon Bay by March. Tuesday 2010/03/23, 22 tons of Oyster from the Bay of Quiberon arrived at Piquey in Lège-Cap-Ferret (33). About fifty oyster-farmers and ten boats brought them onto the site of Canelon and divided them into the oyster beds. Oyster-farmers count on this reintroduction to reseed the oyster grounds. In the same way, the Japanese Oyster (Crassostrea Gigas) imported from Vancouver, was reimplanted in 1971.
