The retina is detached and a homogenous coagulum fills the subretinal space. The angle of the anterior chamber is closed by apposition of iris and cornea. An angiomatous mass in the form of a rete mirabilis is a normal part of the choroid in some of the teleostean fish, and is termed the choroidal gland. A few cases of vascular new-growths protruding from the anterior surface of the iris have been described. They form reddish nodules, from which hemorrhage into the ante- rior chamber is very liable to occur. There is some doubt as to whether they are simple angiomata or angio-sarcomata. Several cases of cavernous angioma of the choroid have been met with, ^ but only one case is on record in which a vascular growth in that membrane consisted of a plexus ^ L.
