The EarlsMill Beech, in Morayshire (Jig. 1913.),is 50 ft. high, with a trunk 17 ft. incircumference at 3 ft. from the ground,and a head 93 ft. in diameter. TheGrange Hall Beech (fig. 1914.), in thesame county, is only 36 ft. high, with atrunk about 14 ft. in circumference at3 ft. from the ground, and a head 95 diameter. The roots rise up allround the trunk to the height of 2 3 ft. from the ground, and form anatural seat, to which the immense andumbrella-like head affords an agreeableshade. The drawings of these last twotrees were made for us by ,artist, of Elgin, at the request, and ex-pense of Mjjcleod, Esq. Filgus sylvatica in England. In theenvirons of London, at GunnersburjPark, are many fine beeches, 90 Ithigh, with trunks about 9 ft. in circum-ference.—South of London. In Devon-shire, at Killerton, a beech tree, l)0years old, is 68 ft. high, diameter of thetrunk 7 ft., and of the head 97 ft. InDorsetshire, at Melbury Park, 200years. 1910
