Part of abbaye de Fontevraud ( Royal Abbey of Our Lady of Fontevraud or Fontevrault) in the village of Fontevraud-l'Abbaye, close to the river Loire near Chinon, in Anjou, France. It was once a monastery from 1101 to 1792. From 1804 until 1963 it became a State Prison, and was so in both world wars. Since 1975, the Abbey is used for conferences and is open to visitors and pilgrims. English King Richard The Lionheart is buried with his father, Henry 11 and his wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine, The Abbey declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site is now one of the biggest restoration sites in France.
