T) OTH are German work and of about the same date, late in the six--*- teenth century. The cup to the left, lying on its side, is rather theearliest. They are useful examples of the style of that period. The mouth of the left hand cup is slightly bell-shaped ; and is orna-mented under the lip with delicate engraving collected in masses of strap-work with heads introduced. Somewhat more than half-way down (at thesmallest diameter) is a cord moulding, dividing the cup. The lower partis filled with two rows of round growing seeds pierced by a point; the fiatspaces between are decorated with a slightly incised small leaf ornament, very commonly found in English plate of the time of queen Elizabeth.
