M., son of Joseph Ryder of the state of NewYork and Sarah (Thayer) Ryder of Plymouth, Michigan, was born in North-ville, Michigan, August 9, 1873. He married Georgia A. Smyth of Mar-shall, Michigan; she graduated from the high school of Union City and theState Normal College. Mr. Ryder graduated from the State Normal Collegein 1893, from the University of Michigan in 1903 with the degree of A. B.;from the same University in 1904 with the degree of A. M.
