CopyHght 1913, byH^ Alfred Fowler* Preface* It was originafly intended to publish this workunder the title ^^Lincolniana Book-plates/^ makingof it a little brochure of interest to collectors of book-plates, depicting the several book-plates bearing port-raits of Lincoln or other designs appropriate for book-plates to be used in books relating to him* But it was found impossible to adequately des-cribe the book-plates without going into the detailsof the collections they were used to mark; & thesedetails were found to be of as much if not more int-erest than the book-plates themselves* And so it was decided to turn the project intoa little volume on Lincolniana; which has beendone, with the kind assistance of Messrs* QiarlesW* McLellan, Judd Stewart and J* B* Oakleaf, allveteran collectors of Lincolniana, who have eachcontributed a little paper on the subject* There has been no effort to cover the field of^Lincolniana book-plates/^ the few illustrations ap-pearing having been chose
